Angouleme

     The large town of Angouleme hosts a festival of cartoons the beginning of January. The17th/18th September the “circuit des Ramparts”. A vintage racing car event open to allcomers with cars from all over the world. The chocolate factory at Fleac is worth a visit.

The Seaside

          The town of Royan and its beaches are only just over an hour away. La Rochelle, its wonderful seafood, picturesque townscape, and famed aquarium is one and a half hours away. Arcachon and its world renowned oysters and beaches are also nearby. There are lots of locations for a good day out.

Cognac

           Cognac offers tours of some of the grand houses of  brandy makers, and is situated on the river Charente 35kms away. It also hosts  “The Blues passions” festival end of July/beginning of August.

Mainfonds

10 km away hosts a spectacular air festival on the last weekend of July, comprising air-ballooning, microlite flying, aerobatic displays and model aeroplane flying. Truly an event not to miss.

Barbezieux

       The nearest town for your shopping is 11kms away with market days on Tuesday and Friday mornings. There is a hospital, restaurants, a discotheque, municipal swimming pool, gym and two large supermarkets. Horseriding and tennis is available.

Aubeterre

35 km away it was once voted the prettiest village in France. Situated on the river Dronne, it has an artificial beach and waterfall where you can swim or canoe. You can cruise the village with its monolithic church and sarcophagi carved out of the rock.There are lots of local art galleries, antique shops and café/restaurants in and around the main square. A definite must visit
